Poet wrote this poem in memory of her dead mother.

The poem describes  3 stages-

1. In the first stage--

The photograph shows the poet's mother enjoying her holiday at a beach with two younger girl cousins. She was 12 yrs old at that time.

2. The second stage -After 20/30 yrs Mother remembered her past with nostalgia.

3.The third Stage describes the sadness of the poet.

what does a Photograph do?

A photograph captures a moment in time and also the emotions felt at the time when it was taken.So whenever a person looks at a photo, it brings those memories back.
